Will the witcher 2 work on my pc?

I have:

1. Intel core 2 quad CPU Q6700 2.66 GHz processor

2. 4 GB RAM

3. Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT graphics card with 512 mb dedicated graphics but 2 gb total graphics memory (not sure I understand the difference)

4. Running windows vista 64-bit

5. Games like mass effect 2, batman arkham asylum, assassin's creed 2, and dragon age 2 work fine (although a little slow at times)

So I bought and installed the witcher 2 but it runs super slow and lags a lot like if ur playing o line but have a bad connection, is this because of my graphics card or something else? If so which graphics card should I get? Could directx have something to do with it?Will the witcher 2 work on my pc?
When playing games on a PC always read the system requirements.

Graphics: GeForce 8800 (512 MB) or Radeon HD3850 (512 MB)

The Geforce 8800 is much faster than the 8600 GT. When the 8-series came out an 8600 was a mid-range gaming card, the 8800 was a high-end gaming card.

Your other specs look fine so if you just buy a graphics card that meets the recommended requirements (GeForce 260 or Radeon HD 4850 ) you should be able to run it pretty well.

About your fifth point: Just because you can run these games doesn't guarantee you can run The Witcher 2. Mass Effect 2 and Batman run on the Unreal 3 engine and aren't demanding games. The Witcher 2 is a graphically advanced game that demands much more power than the games you listed. Will the witcher 2 work on my pc?
That's weird, it should be working fine. Is your computer just for gaming or not?
