My recent gameplay on my PC has been choppy, what are some upgrades I could use?

Im a bit more knowledgeable on this topic than i make myself sound. Even though I read into it, I still feel confused by the ever changing gaming PC benchmarks. I just received Dragon Age Origins, and I cant get a higher framerate than 15 during gameplay.

Here are my current specs

Nvidia GeForce 6600 512mb

Pentium D 3.20 ghz (dual core)

2 Gigs 667 mhz RAM

Also, I'm unsure of the exact specs for my mobo, i know asus manufactures, but im not sure of the bus speed or any of that. 1 PCI Express slot, thats all i know.My recent gameplay on my PC has been choppy, what are some upgrades I could use?
It would probably be best to upgrade both your graphics card and your processor.

Depending on how much you want to spend you can go multiple routes fairly inexpensively for both components.

Processor

before you pick out a graphics card. Read these reviews based on how much you want to spend

Also read this on processors before you make your decision to

It really all comes down to how much you want to spend it, you can get a good upgrade for not a whole lot of cash.
